Open Call for Video Submission: 25@25 What’s your vision for Canada’s future with Asia?

Gendai is now an official community partner for a new initiative by Asia Pacific Foundation - 25@25 video submission project (www.25at25.ca). We would like to show Canada and the world that at Gendai, the contemporary artists we represent are some of the finest YOUNG (18-35) artists in Canada.

With you East Asian perspective, make your voice heard with your arts and join Gendai by submitting your video. Together we will set an example for what Young Canadian artists have in their hands for the future of Canada with Asia.

This new project 25@25 is initiated by Asia Pacific Foundation to celebrate the 25 year of Canada-Asia relationship, in the form of asking young people (18-35, not just Asian) to submit a video between 30 sec to 3 minute in any style (i.e. documentary, arts, animation, visual collage, or even a Cameraphone capture!!!) to tell us

“What’s your vision for Canada’s future with Asia?”
Deadlines: Jan 15, 2010
Winners will be announced in Janurary 2010.

 
WHY SHOULD I SUBMIT:Engage with a dynamic community of innovators and tell us what you think matters most for Canada’s future with Asia.

Create a video short that describes an issue, challenge, or opportunity you feel Canadians should be thinking about in our relations with Asia. Is it family values? Freedom of speech? Fusion cuisine?
Share your vision, and help ignite an exciting new Canada-Asia dialogue!
If you’re between the ages of 18-35, we want to hear from you. Upload your video – anything from a mini-documentary, animated short, visual collage, or even a cameraphone capture – be as creative as you like! We’re looking for forward-thinking entries between 30 sec. – 3 min. in length, with the main idea articulated as a theme or short phrase.

HOW TO SUBMIT:
- Please sign up a account for yourself on the website www.25at25.ca
- In your description, please state that you find out about this through Gendai, all we need is something like "Artist exhibiting at Gendai Gallery 2009-2010 Programming", or "I am a Artist Friend of Gendai"
- Viola! Please notify us at info@gendaigallery.org once you submitted your video, we would like to highlight your works by linking it back on Gendai website as well!

PRIZE:
Grand Prize
- $5000 The grand prize for 25@25: Canada’s Future with Asia will be selected by our distinguished panel of judges. Representing a diverse range of Canada’s business, arts, media, government, and educational sectors, our judges will convene to select one grand prize winner based on submission guidelines.

People’s Choice Award
- $500 It’s simple – the entry with the most votes, WINS! So enter early, invite your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, to vote – and WIN!
