Aiko Suzuki: Selected Works From 1973 To The Present

Encompassing work produced in a range of media over a period of thirty years and illuminated Suzuki’s contribution to key art movements in abstract expressionism and textile art, as well as her sculptural, minimalist dance set designs. A new site-specific installation was created for this exhibition including a soundscape by musician/composer Chiyoko Szlavinics. A monograph designed by Bart Cross, edited by Kyo Maclear and Kerri Sakamoto, with essays by Monika Kin Gagnon and Gary Michael Dault was launched at the opening reception. This exhibition was made possible through the donations of Aiko’s friends and colleagues and the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers to honour of Aiko Suzuki for her significant contributions and achievement in promoting excellence in contemporary art and culture.
