Annual art exhibition & sale of works at Gendai Gallery Co-presented by Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) & Gendai Gallery In conjunction with the NATSU MATSURI (Summer Festival) at the JCCC As a celebration of art, artists and community, the Gendai Gallery and the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre is pleased to present ARTsu MATSURI, a salon-style art exhibition and sale of works. This community fundraising event brings together the artworks of the Asian Canadian community and beyond, with performances, music and food to accompany the opening festivities.
Artsu Matsuri began in 2006 with the purpose to raise funds for Gendai Gallery (60% of sales go to artists, 40% go to Gendai Gallery), to provide exhibition space and exposure for artists in the community, and as a way to contribute a visual art element to the long-running annual NATSU MATSURI (Summer Festival) presented by the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. Following its great success last summer, Artsu Matsuri 2007 promises to be an even more eclectic display of artworks. Artists from the Japanese Canadian community, the wider Asian Canadian community, and those interested in contributing to the Gendai Gallery were invited to participate. Contributors this year range from students to seniors, emerging to established, and all working in wide array of media such as as painting, sculpture, video and mixed media.
