Shinsedai Cinema Festival 2010 is taking place under the same roof at JCCC during the exhibition period of Bungalow Colony this July 22 -25.

Join us on Saturday July 24, 10:30 am for A FREE panel discussion at Shinsedai, titled Jishu Eiga: How Independent Japanese Filmmakers Challenge Cultural Imperitives of the Established Japanese Film Industry. Led by Shinsedai Cinema Festival Programmer and Co-director Chris MaGee and including some of the brightest lights of the Japanese indie film scene this lively discussion will cover both the creative and business aspects of filmmaking outside the Japanese studio system today. After the Panel Discussion, 12:30pm at Gendai Gallery, come meet the filmmakers Momoko Ando (director of Shinsedai opening night film Kakera: A Piece of Our Life), Gen Takahashi (director of Confessions of a Dog), Tokachi Tsuchiya (director of A Normal Life, Please!), Yasunobu Takahashi (director of Locked Out) and Akino Kondoh (artist, and director of Ladybirds’ Requiem), as they take a special visit to the Bungalow Colony exhibition at Gendai Gallery.
