The Gendai Gallery is proud to present emerging artist and architect, Haji Nakamura. This will be the second exhibition of the New Creators Series. EXTENSIONS will feature an installation inspired by a unique architectural project that sits on 25 acres of forest and fields in rural Ontario. It is an ex-urban pre-retirement house designed for the architect's parents. The house that the family named Floating Forest House, is the product of the creative efforts of his all-star artist family members and friends, who collaboratively built this dream house from the ground up. This project is a story of discovery, an exposition of how architecture serves as a vehicle to explore the extension of networks from the city centre to the wider territory of inhabitation beyond. This exhibition will include an installation at Gendai Gallery, satellite exhibitions at the Japan Foundation Toronto Library and Gallery Mura, print collaboration with local media, and a field trip to the Floating Forest House.
