Nihongo Art Contest 2011 is on its way. is a unique way to express inventive ideas about Kanji (Chinese Characters), Hiragana, and Katakana words through illustrations. All students studying Japanese are invited to participate in this creative and fun project.

Since 2004, this Ontario-wide contest has been held every year with the support of the Japan Foundation. Last year, a total of 210 eligible submissions were exhibited at the Gendai Gallery, located within the Japanese Canadian Culture Center.

Students currently studying Japanese at an educational institution or in private tutoring in Ontario from Grade 1 to 12 can participate. (Kindergarten and adult submissions will be exhibited, but are not part of the competition). Submissions are accepted only through teachers. By October 14, 2010, one teacher from each participating school, and all tutors, must register to be a member of the Nihongo Art Contest Organizing Committee (NACOC - runs the contest). You can download ‘Registration for Committee 2011’ form at www.geocities.jp/ontarionac/. All artworks must be received by February 9, 2011.
